Each month, we host the Monthly Photo Contest, giving members a chance to showcase their work. Photographers can submit their favorite image, and the community votes by liking their favorites. The winning photo becomes the Facebook Group cover photo, and we feature the top 10 most-liked images right here on our blog to celebrate the talent within our group.

What is your favorite thing about The Elena S Blair Education Facebook Community?
My favorite thing about The Elena S Blair Education Facebook Community is how genuinely supportive and helpful everybody is. It is a completely level playing field – doesn’t matter if you have been in business for 15 years or 15 minutes, each person’s questions, input, advice is all respected and accepted. Elena’s motto is “Community Over Competition” and that is true in every post and interaction in the group!

If you could tell the version of you from five years ago one thing, what would it be?
Five years ago, I did not even have the idea of starting my own photography business. I was working at a corporate job I loved, had just had my second daughter and felt like I was living my dream. If I could tell that version of myself one thing, it would be this: You do not have to have it all figured out. Sometimes the best things in life come from the dreams you have not even dreamed yet.

What is your favorite lens and why?
My favorite lens is my Canon 35mm 1.8. It’s my smallest lens, my cheapest lens, and the one that just about never leaves my camera! I love that it’s portable and lets me grab my camera and capture a moment with my family without being intrusive. When I’m at a session I love that it captures more in the frame and tells a larger story that includes the environmental aspects of where we are.
