Any photography educator will tell you their way is the best way, especially if they are selling a specific method. But the truth is, there is no one-size-fits-all answer when it comes to photography pricing models.

The First Step: Know Your Real Profit Per Session
Before you worry about choosing a pricing structure, ask yourself one simple question:
Do you actually know what you make per session?
You can charge $3000 per shoot and still struggle to turn a real profit if your expenses and time commitment are too high. When you spend hours on consults, emails, ordering, packaging, and editing, your hourly wage might not even meet minimum standards.
Time is your most valuable currency in business. A photography pricing model only works if it also respects your time.
The Second Step: Understand Your Ideal Client
Not every client wants the same experience, which is why your photography pricing model should match the people you want to attract.
For example, my ideal client is a busy mom. She does not have time for back-and-forth emails, in-person sales, or complicated packages. She wants to know exactly what she is getting, and she wants it to be easy and clear. That is why I use an all-inclusive pricing model.
But maybe your ideal client is the opposite. Maybe she loves a high-touch, hands-on experience. She wants custom product ordering, design consultations, and a full sales session. In that case, a package-based or in-person sales pricing model could be a better fit for your business.

There is No One-Size-Fits-All Pricing Model
You can be profitable using any photography pricing model. The real key is choosing a structure that fits your business, your time, and the needs of your ideal client.
The best pricing model is the one that allows you to work smarter, not harder, and keeps both you and your clients happy.
